Endare is the mobile partner of Carrefour and develops, among other things, a personal shopping assistant with a wide range of features. By working in an agile way, new updates are released regularly and we constantly keep improving the customer experience.


Carrefour is a French multinational retailer with headquarters in Boulogne Billancourt, France. ┬áIt is one of the largest hypermarket chains in the world, with close to 1,600 hypermarkets. It is the Second largest retail group in the world in terms of revenue (after Walmart. Carrefour operates in more than 30 countries, in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. Carrefour means “crossroads” and “public square” in French. The company is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.

Endare as mobile partner

Carrefour commissioned Endare at the beginning of 2016 to develop their new mobile application. This new mobile application would become an additional pillar in the omni-channel strategy.

Three years later, this mobile application is designed as a personal shopping assistant, which makes the shopping experience more efficient and enjoyable. The mobile application offers traditional things such as shopping lists and promotions. Next to that, it also has more advanced features such as the ability to scan products in the store (self scan), to have orders delivered or collect and redeem coupons.

For this mobile application we developed an innovative modular architecture. This innovative architecture allows us to reuse different components of the app, such as the store picker, product search, shopping list and bonus card for the different websites of the customer, and even for the pillars or displays in stores. This approach offers significant advantages in terms of maintainability and TCO.

We, together with Carrefour, develop the mobile application in an agile way and define the scope and deliverables per sprint. This allows us to regularly deliver new features to the Carrefour customers in order to constantly keep improving their mobile shopping experience. Therefore Carrefour is the perfect example of what we mean by being a real mobile partner.
